I recently was going through old photos and scanning interesting things. One thing that I’d had in my possession for years but never looked at was a swim meet program that my Great Aunt Ethel sent to her brother Ted (my grandfather).
The Marstons lived in Honolulu from around 1910-1935? Ted, Ethel, Stan and Warren were all active in local schools, attended McKinley High School and swam for the Outrigger Canoe Club.
As you can see from the program, one of the judges was Duke Kahanamoku. As you’ll see in the program, several of the Duke’s family swam for a different club that still exists, Hui Nalu.

This particular swim meet had clubs from the mainland including St. Mary’s College and Oakland Athletic Club. I found some original source pictures on the Outrigger Canoe Club photo archives. https://photos.outriggercanoeclubsports.com/Outrigger-Canoe-Club-19081940/Outrigger-Canoe-Club-Swimming-/i-XhVKdVJ/A

Ethel Marston swam the 50 yard novice event. She would have been 17 years old in 1919.
Edgar (Ted) would have been 15 at this meet. Here he is entered in the 50 yard swim.

Stan and Warren were both entered in the 20 yard swim under 11 category.

Ethel and Ted both participated in the relay events. The girls' race was 4x100 yards and the boys' race was 6x100 yards (not shown).
