Events Manager - Summer 2011

Update - 06/09/2011 Today I made a change the events manager system that will now correctly capture and display First, Last, Unit, Phone, Affiliation information. If you have events that do not have complete information, you can click the Edit button in the Signup List to add information about individual signups.

Last summer I began a process of making improvements to the Events Manager. The signup module was getting a lot of development work and offered what looked like some real opportunities to allow customization of forms on a per-event basis. That enthusiasm has stopped and given the bugs that we had that I could not resolve (lists with names being the worst issue), I've decided to re-group and try to stabilize the application.  

I've got a working version running that allows us to capture (First, Last, Email, Phone, Unit, Affiliation) fields. I can display them as a list in the event administration section. I need to test the enrollment limits functions, but they appear to be working properly.

It appears that we've got a number of events in June. I'll take a look at your events and try to determine if there's a time I can take the system off line and do some data reconciliation so that we don't cause you too much re-work.

I think we'll drop the idea of private events for the time being; I just don't have time to do the custom development this would require to maintain. The integration of the new campus map and events manager is something I'll review; if you like the idea, say something.

I've received comments that we are getting a lot of link spam via the forms. I'm prepared to add a captcha if the event owners feel that is a good idea. Send me a mail or make a comment below if that works for you. I'll also keep the look and feel the same if that's ok.

Please let me know if there's any other critical bugs that need to be stomped and I'll try to find time over the summer to make updates.
